Let’s see if we can continue supporting Accent Dance and J-Hope’s hip hop classes with additional donations from the BTS Army!

Accent Dance NYC is a non-profit organization dedicated to arts education and concert dance performance. We celebrate and promote multiculturalism and community through our dance education programming and professional performances. We partner with community organizations and perform throughout New York City, Westchester County, and the greater Northeast, including as part of NYC’s Summer Streets Festival, the Battery Park Dance Festival, and iHeart Dance NYC, and contribute to celebrations of Hispanic and Black History, Juneteenth, and LGBTQ Pride.

Since our inception, Accent Dance NYC has served over 11,000 pre-K and school-age children in New York City, Westchester County, and the greater Northeast through its two signature education programs: Dance Education Residencies and Educational Dance Performances. Programming includes a wide range of dance forms, including, among others, African dance, step, salsa, tango, creative movement, hip hop, and ballet. Students learn about each dance form’s history and cultural roots, while discovering the joy of movement and developing their artistic voice. This often incorporates activism on topical issues, such as climate change and social justice, empowering students to advocate for themselves and others. Our inspiring and uplifting programs boost self-esteem, cognitive skills, and creativity while reminding students that their heritage, experiences, and identity matter.

The Accent Dance NYC company is a multidisciplinary concert dance company committed to exploring the artistic, cultural, and humanistic connections among people of all backgrounds. Accent Dance NYC commissions and performs new work by emerging and established choreographers that celebrate the rich diversity of the company and its audiences. The company is composed of artists from Colombia, Haiti, Japan, Europe, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and the greater US who have mastered a dynamic array of dance styles, including ballet, hip hop, tango, salsa, tap, African dance, modern, and flamenco, among others.
